Theoretical Orientation:
Kory utilizes a systemic-psychodynamic approach in conceptualizing client struggles and is integrative in technique. Kory believes that a person can be best understood through a comprehensive understanding of the systems external to that person (e.g., relationships, institutions, society) along with their internal processes (e.g., patterns, emotional experiences, values). Self-awareness, self-evaluation, and gained insight that result in behavior change and/or improved affective experiences are significant factors in improving functioning.

Professional Interests:
Kory was trained clinically as a generalist. As such, clinical focus is broad and she has worked in a variety of settings and with diverse individuals across the lifespan. She has experience with a range of clinical issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, adjustment struggles, personality disorders, and severe mental illness. Areas of specific interest include multicultural issues in prevention and intervention, trauma work, grief and loss, clinical work with ethnic minorities and underserved populations, racial identity development, and advancing social justice in treatment through prevention, outreach, and education.
