Theoretical Orientation:
Eric takes a risk reduction / harms reduction approach to alcohol and other drug education and prevention. While abstinence is the lowest-risk option, any action to reduce the intensity, duration, or frequency of harmful behaviors is a step in the right direction. Behavior change is a cyclical process that involves contemplation, preparation, action, evaluation, and maintenance. Throughout this process, individuals make decisions and adapt in the context of their physical and social environments.

Professional Interests:
Eric has experience mentoring student groups, administering campus surveys, facilitating presentations and workshops, and planning large alcohol-alternative events. He is interested in substance use among at-risk populations, institutional assessment, and student development. He comes from a campus recreation and health promotion background.

Eric is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach through Real Balance, LLC. He has received training for BASICS and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
