Biography:
Brian Tomlinson joined the IUPUI Division of Student Affairs in July 2013. As the Associate Dean of Students and Director, Brian provides comprehensive leadership, management, and vision for the Office of Student Conduct. Brian serves as the chief conduct officer for the university community by administering the Indiana University Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct on the IUPUI campus. Additionally, as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Brian supports the Indiana University Chief Student Welfare and Title IX Officer with the administration of the Indiana University Sexual Misconduct Policy on the IUPUI campus.  Brian and his team serve as the primary point of contact for the IUPUI campus on matters related to students under that policy.  Brian also supports and represents the Dean of Students on issues related to student conduct, university compliance, behavioral intervention, critical incident response, and outreach.

Brian is an experienced investigator and student development professional, frequently presenting training workshops on a variety of topics in the higher education community, including serving as a founding member of curriculum development team and faculty for the ASCA Sexual Misconduct Institute.  Brian has also served as the instructor for the course The College Student and the Law (HESA EDUC U553) for the Indiana University Master’s in Higher Education and Student Affairs program.

Prior to joining IUPUI, Brian held positions in the fields of residence life and student conduct at The Ohio State University, Ball State University, Boston College, and the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. He is an active member of the Association of Student Conduct Administrators and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
