The Campus Center employs over 60 students in a variety of roles and responsibilities:

  • Cultural Arts Gallery Attendants (Herron students only)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title:   Cultural Arts Gallery Attendant
    Department:   IUPUI Campus Center            
    Summary:   Employees provide overall supervision of the Cultural Arts Gallery (CAG) as well as general information regarding the current exhibit in the Cultural Arts Gallery, Campus Center facility, and the IUPUI campus in general.

     Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all Gallery guests
    • Maintain a mastery understanding of Gallery sales policy and exhibit submission process for CAG and CAGII
    • Provide information about current exhibits, upcoming exhibits, general building information, directions, resource material, and other assistance as requested and needed
    • Assist with exhibit installation and de-installation, as requested
    • Help maintain the safety of all artwork while on exhibit
    • Perform tasks as assigned such as but not limited to exhibit publicity, advertising, graphic design, idea generation for programming, inventory, and gallery maintenance
    • Completes all daily log forms, keeps thorough record of communication with patrons and phone messages for follow-up with Gallery Manager
    • Attend gallery staff meetings, and scheduled training sessions
    • Maintain a mastery understanding of the Campus Center Policy Manual, and the Campus Center Student Employee Manual
    • Other duties as assigned

     Qualifications:   Previous customer service work experience, strong work ethic, and attention to detail, reliable personal transportation, strong interpersonal relationship skills, and the physical ability to assist with art exhibit setup and tear down. Candidates must be in academic and judicial good standing. Excellent verbal communication skills and a positive attitude are required. All employees of the Campus Center must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse staff, and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.

    Prefer candidates with undergraduate work in Museum Studies, Fine Arts or Art History. Also, some mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite, art handling, photography skills, and/ or video editing skills would be preferred.

    Time commitment:   A variety of work hours are available during the morning, day, evening and on weekends, whenever the Cultural Arts Gallery is open.  Work hours are also available during spring break, summer, fall break, and the semester break.

    Direct Supervision:   Gallery Area Manager and Coordinator for Student Programming

    Compensation:   $8.75 per hour

  • Event Scheduling Assistants (TCEM students only)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title:   Event Scheduling Assistants
    Department:   IUPUI Campus Center
    Summary:   Employees will assist with all aspects of the event management process and contact with clients hosting events in the Campus Center is required. 

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide high quality customer service to all clients and guests
    • Maintain a mastery understanding the services provided by Campus Center
    • Maintain a mastery understanding of the Campus Center Policy Manual, and Student Employee Manual
    • Serve as a point of contact for both internal and external clients from beginning of the event to end of event
    • Understand how to effectively use the EMS scheduling software to schedule a wide range of meetings and events
    • Provide information and support to clients (student organizations, university departments, off-campus groups) to successfully plan and execute events using Campus Center resources
    • Assist with processing paperwork related to events (request forms, room confirmations, AV equipment needs, setup notes)
    • Coordinate the distribution, setup, and collection of table tents, window banners, easel displays, bulletin board postings
    • Assist with room furniture and technology setups for events, including locking and unlocking of rooms, turning on and setting up AV equipment
    • Work special events as special event point of contact
    • Work five (5) set-up shifts to understand complete dynamics of event execution from beginning to end
    • Be involved with an IUPUI event planning student organization such as MPI or similar organization
    • Attend leadership events to help achieve PULs and enhance personal skills
    • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings, specific ESA staff meetings, and training sessions
    • Be a creative thinker that values work hard, play hard and having fun
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:
    Previous customer service related work and /or experience in event planning, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, strong attention to details, strong computer and data entry skills, reliable personal transportation, strong personal time management skills, and a physical ability to assist with furniture and technology setups, if needed. A friendly, helpful, patient and positive attitude are required. Candidates must be in good academic and judicial standing. TCEM students are highly preferred for these positions. All Campus Center employees must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse staff, and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.

    Prefer candidates with undergraduate work in Tourism, Cenvetion, Event Management degree program.

    Time commitment:   The employees must be available to work approximately 10 - 20 hours per week. Flexibility is required to be available during special events that occur in the evening and on the weekends.

    Direct Supervision:   Assistant Director for Conference and Event Services 

    Compensation:   $8.75 per hour

  • Game Room Attendants

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title:   Game Room / TV Lounge Attendant
    Department:   IUPUI Campus Center
    Summary:   Employees provide general supervision of the Game Room and TV Lounge spaces

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to anyone that enters or utilizes the building
    • Maintain a mastery understanding the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events, and general campus information
    • Maintain a mastery understanding of the Campus Center Policy Manual, and the Campus Center Student Employee Manual
    • Enforce Game Room policies and procedures with all guests and visitors
    • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
    • Complete all necessary shift logs and forms associated with Game Room usage, equipment checkout, unclaimed ID cards, equipment inventory, maintenance issues and concerns
    • Maintain a clean and organized Game Room, including cleaning tables, arranging chairs, dusting equipment, cleaning bulletin and dry erase boards, organizing games and office equipment
    • Maintain an organized TV Lounge, including collecting trays, arranging tables and chairs
    • Provide secondary assistance with Multi-use Rooms
    • Provide secondary assistance with Theater box office functions
    • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings, and training sessions
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:   Previous customer service work experience, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, reliable personal transportation, strong time management skills, strong interpersonal relationship skills, and the physical ability to assist with furniture and technology setups, if needed.  An interest in a variety of video and recreational games is a plus. Candidates must be in good academic and judicial standing. All employees of the Campus Center must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse staff, and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.

    Time commitment:   Employees must be available to work a variety hours during the morning, day, evening and on weekends, whenever the Campus Center facility is open (academic semesters, semester break, spring break, and during the summer).

  • Information Desk Attendants

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title:   Information Desk Attendant
    Department:   IUPUI Campus Center            
    Summary:   Employees provide information about the Campus Center facility, building tenants and their services, campus events, the general IUPUI campus, and the surrounding Indianapolis community.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all guests and clients in the building including providing general information, directions, resource material, and other assistance as requested and needed
    • Maintain a mastery understanding of the Campus Center Policy Manual, and the Campus Center Student Employee Manual
    • Maintain a mastery understanding of the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events, and general campus information
    • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
    • Assist with room setups, the setup and tear down of information tables, and work in the Game Room or Art Gallery, as needed
    • Communicate with Setup Crew when clients arrive to have rooms opened
    • Assist with management of ID cards for individuals using the Individual Music Practice Rooms
    • Complete all daily log forms, reports, and other paper work throughout shift
    • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings, and training sessionsOther duties as assigned

  • Operations Crew Assistants

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title:   Operations Team Member
    Department:   IUPUI Campus Center
    Summary:   Employees are responsible for setting up furniture, technology equipment, and information tables for events in the Campus Center. 

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Perform room set-ups (room furniture and technology equipment and resources) for events scheduled in Campus Center spaces:  

    • Do furniture setups based on information provided in the daily setup worksheet
    • Setup necessary technology equipment (screens, projectors, sound equipment)  
    • Setup any other resources (staging, easels, podiums)  
    • Unlock the meeting rooms and greet clients at arrival  
    • Provide basic AV instruction to clients  
    • Walk past each meeting room in use on an hourly basis  
    • Periodic check-ins with clients with all-day events

    Reset rooms after each event:  

    • Turn off AV equipment, open blinds, put up screen  
    • Reset rooms after each event for the next event that day, or for events within two hours of opening the next morning  
    • As necessary, complete a room policy violation form to record damages by the client, broken furniture or equipment, and no show clients
    • Return portable AV equipment to appropriate storage room locations  
    • Clean tables, arrange chairs, clean dry erase boards, remove trash and vacuum floors as needed    
    • Lock the room
    • Maintain facility by cleaning tables and chairs in the Citizen’s Commons and elsewhere in the building
    • Assist with the distribution and collection of table tents, banners, and poster displays as requested
    • Do regular inventory checks on all meeting room furniture and resources to check for any needed repairs and/or replacement
    • Perform AV 1:1 meetings with Area Manager, Building Manager, or Senior Coordinator forFacilities and Technical Services as needed
    • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings, and training sessions
    • Attend leadership events to help achieve PULs and enhance personal skills
    • Be a creative thinker that values working hard, playing hard and having fun
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:   Previous customer service work experience, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, great attention to details, reliable personal transportation, good time management skills, and the physical ability to move and setup furniture and technology equipment on a daily basis. Attend required position training. Confidence and familiarity with setting up technology is a plus.  Candidates must be in academic and judicial good standing.  All Campus Center employees must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse staff, and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.

    This position requires the ability to lift, move furniture no more than 20 pounds, and be in overall good physical condition. This position also includes the use of a variety of technology equipment for meetings and events. 

    Time commitment:   A variety of work hours are available during the morning, day, evening and on weekends, whenever the Campus Center facility is open.  Work hours are also available during spring break, summer, fall break, and the semester break. Work an on-call schedule as a primary or secondary and able to come in as needed. Employees must be within a 30 minute drive of the Campus Center.

    Compensation:   $8.75 / hour
