The Campus Center employs over 50 students in a variety of roles and responsibilities:

  • Audio Visual Event Technician

    Summary:
    Employees are responsible for setting up and controlling audio and video equipment and lighting for events primarily within, but not limited to, the Campus Center Theater and Multipurpose Room.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain basic knowledge of technical equipment (computer, projector, live sound and lighting equipment)
    • Set-up, troubleshoot and control audio visual equipment including video projectors, sound equipment and lighting
    • Conduct AV 1:1 training sessions with Campus Center Team Members
    • Attend technical meetings with clients
    • Inspect equipment for damage, and communicate issues that need addressed
    • Respond to requests from Senior Coordinator for Facilities and Technical Services
    • Attend staff meetings, and individual training sessions
    • Follow directions, manage time and work independently
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience with running sound and/or lighting for live events such as lectures, theater productions, concerts and other productions
    • Confidence and familiarity with setting up technology-related equipment
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Strong work ethic with a great attention to details
    • Reliable personal transportation
    • Good time management skills
    • The physical ability to move and setup furniture (no more than 50 pounds) and technology equipment as needed.
    • Ability to climb and safely work from ladders (as tall as 12’) as needed.

    Qualifications:
    Candidates must have at least a 2.0 cumulative IUPUI GPA (or be a first-semester student) and be in judicial good standing at the time of application, and those hired must maintain this standing throughout the term of employment.     Time commitment:

  • CUBE Team Member

    Summary:
    CUBE team members provide information about student organizations and related policies and procedures; the Den and all associated policies and procedures; student activities programs and services; general Campus Center policies; campus events and the general IUPUI campus; and the surrounding Indianapolis community. They also manage the reservation, upkeep, and maintenance of the CUBE space. This position requires a great deal of interaction with clients and guests as well as the physical ability to complete furniture set-up and tear-down.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all guests and clients in the CUBE and in the Campus Center, including providing general information, directions, resource material and other assistance as requested and needed
    • Establish and maintain an understanding of the policies and procedures outlined in the Campus Center Building Manual and Campus Center Student Employee Manual
    • Maintain detailed knowledge of the services provided by student activities team, policies and procedures pertaining to student organizations and student organization events (registration, The Den, the Activity Form, etc.), general campus services, office locations, campus events and general campus information
    • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
    • Complete the set-up and tear-down of the CUBE lounge area as designated in the daily set-up worksheet
    • Communicate with other team members regarding the status of activity forms and pending actions needed
    • Assist with management of student organization mail, student activities email, attendance tracking equipment, and more
    • Complete all daily log forms, reports and other paper work throughout shift
    • Complete specific tasks related to opening and closing the facility
    • Maintain cleanliness of surrounding areas (desk, doors, furniture, kitchenette, etc.)
    • Assist with the implementation of emergency action plans in the instance of a drill or actual emergency
    • Attend all scheduled area team and all-team meetings (typically 4-6 meetings per semester), and training sessions (typically held the last two weekdays prior to the first day of class in the fall and spring semesters)
    • Provide assistance in other work areas as needed
    • Adhere to the established dress code (staff members are provided 2 shirts and a fleece jacket)
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    Previous customer service work experience, excellent customer service skills, excellent verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to details, reliable personal transportation, strong time management skills, strong interpersonal relationship skills and the physical ability to complete furniture set-up and tear-down are required. Previous experience using the Den and/or planning or registering student organization events is strongly preferred.

    Candidates must have at least a 2.0 cumulative IUPUI GPA (or be a first-semester student) and be in judicial good standing at the time of application, and those hired must maintain this standing throughout the term of employment. Undergraduate candidates and team members must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, and graduate candidates and team members must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours.   • Cultural Arts Gallery Team Member (Herron School of Art & Design students preferred)

    Summary:
    Cultural Arts Gallery team members provide overall supervision of the Cultural Arts Gallery and Cultural Arts Gallery II, as well as general information regarding the Campus Center facility, building tenants and their services, campus events and the IUPUI campus in general. They also assist with the planning and implementation of programs and events sponsored by the Cultural Arts Gallery. This position requires a great deal of interaction with clients and guests.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all guests and clients in the building
    • Establish and maintain an understanding of the policies and procedures outlined in the Campus Center Building Manual and the Campus Center Team Member Manual
    • Maintain detailed knowledge of the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events and general campus information
    • Provide information about current exhibits, upcoming exhibits and gallery programs, as well as general building information, directions, resource material, and other assistance as requested and needed
    • Assist with exhibit set-up and tear-down as requested
    • Help maintain the safety of all artwork while on exhibit
    • Assist with the planning and implementation of gallery programs and events as assigned
    • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
    • Complete all daily log forms, reports and other paper work
    • Assist with the implementation of emergency action plans in the instance of a drill or actual emergency
    • Attend all scheduled team and all-team meetings (typically 4-6 meetings per semester), and training sessions (typically one day-long session per semester)
    • Provide assistance in other work areas as needed
    • Adhere to the established dress code (team members are provided 2 shirts and a fleece jacket)
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    Previous customer service work experience, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, attention to detail, reliable personal transportation, strong time management skills, strong inter-personal relationship skills and the physical ability to assist with art exhibit set-up and tear-down are required. Undergraduate work at the Herron School of Art and Design or in Museum Studies and proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite, art handling, photography skills, and video editing skills are strongly preferred.

  • Event Services Assistant (TCEM students preferred)

    Summary:  

    Team Members will assist with all aspects of the event management process and contact with clients hosting events in the Campus Center is required. 

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all guests and clients in the building
    • Establish and maintain an understanding of the policies and procedures outlined in the Campus Center Building Manual and the Campus Center Team Member Manual
    • Maintain detailed knowledge of the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events and general campus information
    • Serve as a point of contact for both internal and external clients from beginning of the event to end of event
    • Understand how to effectively use the EMS scheduling software to schedule a wide range of meetings and events
    • Provide information and support to clients (student organizations, university departments, off-campus groups) to successfully plan and execute events using Campus Center resources
    • Assist with processing paperwork related to events (request forms, room confirmations, AV equipment needs, setup notes)
    • Coordinate the distribution, setup, and collection of table tents, window banners, easel displays, bulletin board postings
    • Assist with room furniture and technology setups for events, including locking and unlocking of rooms, turning on and setting up AV equipment
    • Work special events as special event point of contact
    • Work a weekly Operations shift to understand complete dynamics of event execution from beginning to end
    • Be involved with an IUPUI event planning student organization such as MPI or similar organization
    • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
    • Complete all daily log forms, reports and other paper workAssist with the implementation of emergency action plans in the instance of a drill or actual emergency
    • Attend all scheduled team and all-team meetings (typically 4-6 meetings per semester), and training sessions (typically one day-long session per semester)

    Requirements:
    Previous customer service related work and /or experience in event planning, excellent customer service skills, strong work ethic, strong attention to details, strong computer and data entry skills, reliable personal transportation, strong personal time management skills, and a physical ability to assist with furniture and technology setups, if needed. A friendly, helpful, patient and positive attitude are required. Candidates must be in good academic and judicial standing. TCEM students are highly preferred for these positions. All Campus Center team members must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse team and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.

    Prefer candidates with undergraduate work in Tourism, Convention, Event Management degree program.

  • Game Room Team Members

    Summary:
    Game Room team members provide general supervision of the Game Room and TV Lounge spaces. They also assist with the planning and implementation of Game Room programs and events. This job is performed in a busy and sometimes noisy environment and requires a great deal of interaction with clients and guests. It also requires the physical ability to arrange/re-arrange furniture.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all guests and clients in the building
    • Establish and maintain an understanding of the policies and procedures outlined in the Campus Center Building Manual and the Campus Center Team Member Manual
    • Maintain detailed knowledge of the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events and general campus information
    • Establish and maintain a mastery understanding of the equipment in the Game Room as well as rules and regulations for recreation tournaments
    • Enforce Game Room policies and procedures with all guests and visitors
    • Use available written and electronic resources to problem solve and provide customer service
    • Complete all necessary shift logs and forms associated with Game Room usage, equipment checkout, unclaimed ID cards, equipment inventory, maintenance issues and concerns
    • Assist with the planning and implementation of programs and events as assigned
    • Maintain a clean and organized Game Room, including cleaning tables, arranging chairs, dusting equipment, cleaning bulletin and dry erase boards and organizing games and office equipment
    • Maintain an organized TV Lounge, including collecting trays and arranging tables and chairsProvide customer access to Individual Multi-Use Rooms and ensure rooms are tidy and secured when customer departs
    • Provide secondary assistance with theater box office functionsAssist with building closing procedures
    • Assist with the implementation of emergency action plans in the instance of a drill or actual emergency
    • Attend all scheduled team and all-team meetings (typically 4-6 meetings per semester), and training sessions (typically one day-long session per semester)

  • Information Desk Team Member

    Summary:  
    Information Desk team members provide information about the Campus Center and events taking place in the facility; building tenants and their services; campus events and the general IUPUI campus; and the surrounding Indianapolis community. They also manage the set-up and take-down of information tables and assist information table clients. This position requires a great deal of interaction with clients and guests and the physical ability to complete furniture set-up and tear-down.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all guests and clients in the building, including providing general information, directions, resource material and other assistance as requested and needed
    • Establish and maintain an understanding of the policies and procedures outlined in the Campus Center Building Manual and the Campus Center Team Member Manual

    • Complete specific tasks related to opening and closing the facility
    • Maintain cleanliness of surrounding areas (desk, doors, furniture, etc.)
    • Assist with the implementation of emergency action plans in the instance of a drill or actual emergency
    • Attend all scheduled team and all-team meetings (typically 4-6 meetings per semester), and training sessions (typically one day-long session per semester)
    • Provide assistance in other work areas as needed

  • Operations Team Member

    Summary:
    Operations team members are responsible for setting up furniture and technology equipment for events in the Campus Center, and for general upkeep of the common areas of the building. This position requires the ability to lift, move furniture no more than 20 pounds and be in overall good physical condition. This position also includes the use of a variety of technology equipment for meetings and events.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly and courteous customer service to all guests and clients in the building
    • Establish and maintain an understanding of the policies and procedures outlined in the Campus Center Building Manual and the Campus Center Team Member Manual
    • Maintain detailed knowledge of the services provided by Campus Center tenants, general campus services, office locations, campus events and general campus information
    • Perform room set-ups (room furniture and technology equipment) for events scheduled in Campus Center spaces:
      • Do furniture set-ups based on information provided in the daily set-up worksheet
      • Set up necessary technology equipment (screens, projectors, sound equipment)
      • Set up other resources (staging, easels, podiums)Unlock the meeting rooms and greet clients at arrival
      • Provide basic AV instruction to clients
      • Monitor each meeting room in use on an hourly basis
      • Complete periodic check-ins with clients with all-day events
    • Reset rooms after each event:
      • Turn off AV equipment, open blinds and put up screen
      • Reset furniture for the next event that day, or for events within two hours of opening the next morning; return unneeded furniture to appropriate storage rooms
      • Return portable AV equipment to appropriate storage rooms
      • Clean tables, arrange chairs, clean dry erase boards, remove trash and vacuum floors as needed
      • Lock the room when the reset is completed
    • Maintain facility by cleaning tables, cleaning microwave ovens, discarding trash and straightening chairs in the Citizens Commons and elsewhere in the building
    • Complete specific tasks related to opening and closing the facility
    • Complete regular inventory checks on all meeting room furniture and resources to check for any needed repairs and/or replacement
    • Complete one-on-one AV training with Senior Coordinator for Facilities and Technical Services, Operations Area Manager or Building Manager as needed
    • Assist with the implementation of emergency action plans in the instance of a drill or actual emergency
    • Attend all scheduled team and all-team meetings (typically 4-6 meetings per semester), and training sessions (typically one day-long session per semester)
    • Provide assistance in other work areas as needed
    • Adhere to the established dress code (team members are provided 2 shirts and a fleece jacket)
    • Other duties as assigned

  • Website Content Specialist

    Summary:
    This position is responsible for conducting regular maintenance of assigned websites; including content updates, accessibility, troubleshooting issues, identifying and fixing broken links, and web standards compliance. Responsibilities may also include providing assistance with the development of new sections or pages.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage the content aspects of the assigned web pages including content management, writing, editing, proofreading, and content publishing
    • Develop the voice for all aspects of the various web pages
    • Manage and maintain a web page content update calendar
    • Attend staff meetings, and individual training sessions
    • Follow directions, manage time and work independently as well as collaboratively
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

    • Experience working with web content management systems (Cascade Server a plus)
    • Thorough understanding of the best practices for web writing and standards, web design, web content management, search engine optimization, and knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Photoshop and other web technologies

    Implements, manages and measures departmental social media and marketing initiatives for student engagement, quality control and consistent messaging per department guidelines.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develops initiatives in social networking, video sharing, and other social media technologies.
    • Coordinates content production and publishing on department social media sites and technologies.
    • Establishes metrics and tracking of social media initiatives.
    • Plans and implements social media programs for the department providing a strategy consistent with overall department and Division of Student Affairs marketing strategy.
    • Develops and maintains social media guide for department.
    • Trains staff and students on procedures to maintain department, division, and University standards and meet University quality objectives.
    • Attend student team meetings (3 times per semester), and all-team and individual training sessions.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Lead department social media strategy and look for ways to increase interactions and improve student engagement. Coordinate efforts among the various social media channels made by different entities within the department. Maintain the posting schedule, direct the response to comments, develop ideas for staff/guest posts, and find ways to grow student involvement. Maximize cross communications/promotions whenever possible.
    • Provide guidance to other student team members on tone, subject matter, frequency, timing and other best practices. Contribute a high volume of posts across multiple social media accounts.
    • Create and cultivate communities by engaging IUPUI students through discussion on social media accounts.
    • Gather information (through traditional media, blogs, social networks, and students) on important topics and trends relating to Campus Centers/Unions and student activities and use where applicable (IU Bloomington, ACUI, etc.).
    • Train and supervise staff in managing unit social media sites where applicable (e.g., Game Room Facebook page).
    • Promote the highest standards of the profession in accordance with IUPUI principles, ethics and standards and established good practice in the Division of Student Affairs.
    • Maintain academic and judicial good standing.

    All Campus Center employees must have a commitment and interest in working with a diverse staff, and serving a diverse population of clients and guests.

    Time Commitment:
    Team members will be scheduled for at least 10 hours per week. Additional hours will be scheduled as needed, but not more than 25 hours per week. A variety of work hours are available during the morning, day, and evening, and on weekdays and weekends, whenever the Campus Center facility is open. Team members may also occasionally be assigned to work at late-night events. Work hours are also available during fall break, semester break, and spring break and over the summer.

    Compensation:
    $11.00/hour
