  • Standing water test: Is there standing water on the field?
  • Lateral cut test: Will the foot slide on the surface on the soil or mud when making a lateral cut?
  • Footstep test (Squish test): While walking on the field, can water be seen or heard with a footstep?
  • Heal imprint test: Does the heal of one's shoe, when pressed with the weight of one's body, make an impression into the soil?
  • Footprint test: While walking on the field, is there any impression of one's footprint left in the surface?

Outdoor Facility Risk Management Policy
(Including South Meadow, Softball Fields, and The CROF at Lockefield Green)

While the risk of an emergency during your event is low, being prepared for an unanticipated incident is essential. Prior to the start of your event, all event staff should be notified of warning signs of a possible emergency. Warning signs may include weather clouds/forecast, public intoxication, suspicious packages, minor disputes between individuals or groups, and more. All event staff should also be aware of the designated evacuation routes in order to ensure a quick evacuation of bystanders.

In the event of a weather emergency:

  • Gather individuals and head to assigned shelter.
  • Take a head count of the participants and personnel to make sure all are accounted for.
  • Continue to monitor your battery-powered radio, smart phone, or television for emergency information.

Contact IUPD immediately at (317) 274-7911 in the following situations: an intoxicated individual is creating a disturbance, drugs or drug paraphernalia are present, a weapon is present.
