Mental Health Awareness

Our initiative focusing on Mental Health aims to:

  • Reduce feelings of isolation among students.
  • Enhance the overall feeling of connectedness on IUPUI's campus.
  • Reduce students' hesitation to seek help due to fear of being judged.
  • Reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Share Your Story
One in five people will experience a mental illness in their lifetime. The other four will know someone- a family member, friend, or co-worker who has been affected. We all have a story to tell. We would like to hear how you have been impacted by the stigma of mental illness. You don’t have to experience mental illness yourself to share your viewpoint- stories by family members, friends and community members are also welcome!

We hope you will share, and read the stories of others. By encouraging compassion and understanding, your story will help to shatter the stigma of mental illness in our community and illustrate how mental health matters at IUPUI.

How to Write Your Story
For some guidance on how to structure your story for our website, download the Mental Health Promotion Guide for guidelines and some helpful hints. Once you've written your story, use the submission form to upload the Word Document or PDF file to us. All submissions are subject to our review process and school policy.
