Student Success Programs

Sophomore Experience

Welcome to IUPUI’s Sophomore Experience Program. Supported by the Office of Educational Partnerships and Student Success at IUPUI, Sophomore Experience is here to offer opportunities to ensure students have success, both academically and professionally. Our programs work to engage and connect sophomores with the IUPUI community.

The sophomore year can be full of many challenges. Research suggests that sophomore year can be a time of confusion and uncertainty with a new set of stressors. Sophomores work to navigate declaring a major, studying abroad, interning, and working through financial concerns, often times while receiving less support than during their first year of college. This phenomenon can cause sophomores to fall into the “sophomore slump."

The three most common sophomore stressors are academics, personal concerns, and relationships. You may find yourself considering the following questions.

  • What am I doing here at IUPUI?
  • What are some opportunities to meet new people?
  • What if my major isn't a good fit?

You're not alone, and we are here to help! We have programs, resources, and staff to help you along your sophomore journey.
