Elite 50 Information and Application

Purpose
The 4th Annual Elite 50 recognizes student achievements in scholarship and service beyond the classroom. Honorees represent the best of the over 8,000 graduate and professional students at IUPUI.

  • Application Overview

    • Applicants must be a graduate and professional student on the IUPUI campus in an IUPUI program. December 2017 graduates are eligible to apply. There is no nomination process. 
    • Applicants must be in good academic standing within their respective school. There is no GPA requirement.
    • All activities applicants document must have occurred during their academic years as a graduate or professional student at IUPUI. 
    • Applicants should submit their application and materials no later than 11:59 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Award recipients will be notified the week of March 19th.
    • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Evaluation Criteria

    Applicants will be evaluated in two categories: Letter of Recommendation (LOR) and University Service/Community Benefit.

    • Recommendation Letter. The LOR must: 
      • Be written on professional letterhead with contact information and signature
      • Show knowledge of candidate
      • Evaluate accomplishments of applicant
      • Discuss personal characteristics of applicant which make for an ideal Elite 50 candidate
    • University Service/Community Benefit. Applications will be based on the following criteria:
      • Frequency of Service/Involvement
      • Duration of Service/Involvement
      • Level of Involvement
      • Responsibilities
      • Benefit to the organization, university, or community.
  • Awards

    Elite 50 - This award is given to students whose score ranks in the top fifty of applications submitted.

    Premier 10 - This award is given to students whose score ranks in the top ten of applications submitted.

    Dr. Charles R. Bantz Award for Excellence - This award is given to the student who achieves the highest score amongst all applications.

  • Considerations

    • If you have previously been awarded an Elite 50 award, you may not apply in this cycle.
    • If you have applied previously but not been awarded an Elite 50 award, you are free to re-apply.
    • Only jobs or positions that a student is involved with during their time as a graduate/professional student will be considered.

Dinner
All winners will be invited to the Elite 50 Celebration Dinner which takes place on April 11th, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the University Tower Ballroom. 

Tickets for the dinner will go on sale during the spring semester for $45 for individuals and $450 for an IUPUI Faculty/Staff/Student Table (10 Seats)
