Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week

Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week was started in 1993 by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students as a way to support and appreciate graduate and professional students. The week seeks to emphasize the contributions, impact and value of graduate and professional students on campuses throughout the United States. The inaugural Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week at IUPUI will be held from April 17-22, 2017. 

Schedule of Events:

Monday, April 17th

Coffee and Conversation - 9 am-12 pm in CE 340B

Stop by the GPSG office for coffee, bagels and conversation.  

Dinner on the Go - Student Activities Programming Board will provide pizza for 5 to 6 night class

Tuesday, April 18th 

Professional “Headshot” Photos - 10 am-12 pm in CE 340B

Stop by the GPSG office for a free professional photo. First-come, first-served.

Dinner on the Go - SAPB will provide pizza for 5 to 6 night classes

Wednesday, April 19th 

Donuts for Grads - 9am-11am UL Atrium 

IUPUI Graduate Office will serve donuts and coffee on the 2nd floor of University Library. 

Elite 50 Celebration Dinner - 6-8 pm in CE 450

Celebrate the achievement and successes of graduate and professional students at this recognition dinner

Thursday, April 20th

Free Zumba Class - 12-1 pm in CE 031

Free Turbo Kick Fitness Class - 4-5 pm in CE 305

Dinner on the Go - SAPB will provide pizza for 5 to 6 night classes

Friday, April 21st

Midday-Mixer - 12-1 pm in University Hall 2041-2043.

This will be a chance to network with other graduate students across campus and to learn more about UPnGO, Underrepresented Professional and Graduate Student Organization. Lunch will be provided.

Saturday, April 22nd 

King’s Island Trip - All day

GPSG will be sponsoring 20 students for the annual SAPB King’s Island Trip. Meaning you wont have to pay! Tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Transportation and a food voucher will be provided for each student. To sign up to receive a ticket please fillout this form. How can faculty, staff and schools get involved? 

  • Take your GA or TA out to lunch
  • Provide mentoring for your GA or TA
  • Review your GA or TA’s resume
  • Provide free printing during the week  
  • Donate to Paw’s Pantry because grad students use this as a resource
  • Spotlight one of your grad students in a school or department newsletter
  • Shout out your grad students over your school's social media
  • Decorate your offices for the week
  • Just say thank you to a grad or professional student. Everyone likes to feel valued!
