Traditions Board

The Division of Student Affairs is looking for energetic, knowledgeable, dedicated, and jagtastic individuals to be a member of the IUPUI Traditions Board. Below are the positions currently available:

  • Executive Director

    • Lead the board in executive and general member meeting
    • Develop a strategic plan and goals each year for the goal
    • Assist in the recruitment of members
    • Be the main contact between administrators and the organization
    • Assist in the annual creation of the budget
    • Oversee the Jagapalooza and Homecoming
    • Meet regularly with Jagapalooza, Homecoming, Engagement, and Finance Directors
    • Provide yearly reports to the Campus Center and Student Experiences Office about the current years success

    In addition to the duties listed, members of the executive board are expected to serve as leaders at each Homecoming or Jagapalooza events that they are able to attend.

  • Director of Engagement

    • Manage the application cycle and interview process
    • Oversee recruitment of new members
    • Come up with the agendas for weekly meetings
    • Communicate with members and campus partners
    • Create and staff a tabling schedule for Homecoming, Jagapalooza, and Recruitment
    • Take detailed meeting minutes
    • Plan two one-day retreats per year (one at the beginning of fall semester, and one at the beginning of spring semester)
    • Provide professional development opportunities for members
    • Oversee the engagement subcommittee

    In addition to the duties listed, members of the executive board are expected to serve as leaders at each Homecoming or Jagapalooza events that they are able to attend.

  • Engagement Committee

    Summary: This committee is responsible for the running and operations of the Traditions Board. Professional development, meeting minutes, documents, and marketing are all a part of this committee's duties.

    Time Commitment: Board members must spend 3 hours per week on Traditions Board duties. Members are expected to attend a weekly committee meeting time and Traditions Board meeting (this counts towards the three hours each week).

  • Director of Jagapalooza

    • Responsible for representing Jagapalooza on and off campus
    • Manage a planning committee to lead and execute the week of events and Jagapalooza itself
    • Serve as the main contact person for contracts, marketing, and logistics of the event
    • During the event, serve as a resource for anything related to the event in order to provide a safe and fun environment for all entertainers, vendors, guests, and volunteers
    • Work with the Director of Engagement, Director of Finance, and the Executive Director to plan the event
    • Responsible for attending weekly meetings with the executive team as well as one-on-ones with their advisor
    • Hold meetings with the planning committee as deemed necessary

  • Director of Homecoming

    • Responsible for representing Homecoming on and off campus
    • Manage a planning committee to lead and execute Homecoming week events
    • Serve as the main contact person for contracts, marketing, and logistics of the event
    • During the events, serve as a resource for anything related to the event in order to provide a safe and fun environment for all entertainers, vendors, guests, and volunteers
    • Work with the Director of Engagement, Director of Finance, and the Executive Director to plan the event
    • Responsible for attending weekly meetings with the executive team as well as one-on-ones with their advisor

  • Programming Committee

    Summary: This committee is responsible for the facilitation and administration of the Homecoming and Jagapalooza Celebrations at IUPUI. Homecoming and Jagapalooza week events and marketing are all a part of this committee's duties.

    Time Commitment: Board members must spend 3 hours per week on Traditions Board duties. Members are expected to attend a weekly committee meeting time and Traditions Board meeting (this counts towards the three hours each week).

  • Director of Fundraising

    • Look at prior year’s budget and be able to draft a budget for the next year
    • Assist in the reading of contracts and making sure we meet on our end of the deal
    • Promote the Traditions Board through tabling and other marketing events
    • Be able to brainstorm on fundraising ideas
    • Ability to be professional in asking campus orgs as well as local businesses for donations or sponsorships
    • Ability to quantify qualitative services (i.e. put a price on a Facebook post)
    • Ability to negotiate based on knowledge of promotional ideas and services requested

    In addition to the duties listed, members of the executive board are expected to serve as leaders at each Homecoming or Jagapalooza events that they are able to attend.

  • Finances Committee

    Summary: This committee is responsible for the administration and oversight of the finances of the Traditions Board. Fundraising, Sponsorship, Stewardship, and scholarship are all a part of this committee’s duties.

    Time Commitment: Board members must spend 3 hours per week on Traditions Board duties. Members are expected to attend a weekly committee meeting time and Traditions Board meeting (this counts towards the three hours each week).
