Housing Welcome Back
Housing Welcome Back:
Housing and Residence Life Welcomes the Fall 2016 Residents!
The rain didn’t stop IUPUI’s Housing and Residence Life from moving approximately 1700 students into on-campus housing facilities on August 20, 2016. Residents were quickly and smoothly moved into their halls with the help of hundreds of student and employee volunteers, including Chancellor Paydar himself. These students joined approximately 1000 students who moved in two weeks earlier during Bridge move-in.
In addition to being a successful day, it marked a milestone for IUPUI with the opening of North Hall. North Hall is the first traditional residence hall constructed at IUPUI since the founding of the campus in 1969. The residence hall has been intentionally designed to promote resident interaction through the creation of welcoming common spaces, including a grand lobby and micro-lounges throughout each residential floor.
Sticking with the theme of creating milestones for students, Housing and Residence Life hosted the first All Resident Meeting at the IUPUI Natatorium for all on-campus housing residents. Dr. Aaron Hart, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Housing and Residence Life, took this opportunity to introduce himself and invite students to take advantage of all the opportunities available to Live. Learn. Lead.
At the meeting, students were encouraged to show their residence hall pride with custom cheers and by wearing their hall shirts to the event. They were also given more information on the various ways to get involved through Floor and Hall Councils, Residence Hall Association, and the LYFE scholarship program.
