Christine Kung’u joined the Division of Student Affairs in September 2017. As the assistant director of interpersonal violence prevention and response, she is responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of the prevention, education, intervention, and advocacy efforts related to sexual assault and relationship violence for the IUPUI campus. Kung’u offers face-to face confidential advocacy and support and is also the designated originator for interim measures, a process required by Title IX.

Kung’u has more than eight years of experience working with survivors of sexual assault and relationship violence in Kenya and the U.S., which has provided her unique insights and made her sensitive to the needs of survivors. Using the trauma-informed lens, she understands that trauma affects each individual differently and works to meet survivors at their point of need and assist them in accessing the resources they need, including safety planning, legal services, counseling, and other support services. Her particular interests include working with survivors of sexual and relationship violence and understanding the intersection of law and social justice issues.
