Do spring break your way

By:

The hours of studying, writing papers and wrapping up projects will soon be on a hiatus. Spring break is right around the corner. No matter where you are or what you do during the week, this break is all about you. Take this time to relax and focus on your needs by doing spring break your way.

Here are ways students in Health and Wellness Promotion plan to recharge over break.

Do one thing productive

This is the perfect time to go to the dentist, start looking for a summer job, wash your car or clean out your closet. You’ll feel accomplished tackling a task on your to-do list.

"Something productive I plan on doing is getting my tires changed."- Kamryn Fitzwater, peer health educator

"This week, every morning when I wake up, I'm going to try and spend time meditating. I think meditation and spending time on your mental health is huge and really productive to your overall health and well-being." - Michael Shetler, health and wellness coach

Do one thing for yourself

Spring break is just that – a break! Even if you have big activities planned, do at least one thing for yourself. Read a fun book, take a yoga class, check out a new coffee shop or have a movie night.

"I'm going to binge-watch "Survivor" over spring break because I dropped off halway through the series." - Michael Castellanos, peer health educator

"Something I'm going to do for myself is finish reading one of my books that I've been meaning to read." - Precious Harvey, peer health educator

Do one thing for someone else

Catch up with a friend, call a family member or send someone a card in the mail. Life gets busy, and it can be hard to stay connected. But there are plenty of small ways you can show someone else that you care.

"I know a lot of people like coffee to start their day, so I'll be paying it forward by buying coffee for the person behind me in line." - Francie Wilcox, program assistant with the Collegiate Recovery Community

How will you do spring break your way? Tell us by participating in a spring break contests on Instagram! One contest is already underway, and another one will be posted next week.
