Resident Assistant applications are now open

Housing and Residence Life is seeking out IUPUI students with school spirit, a knack for leadership and a passion for service to become Resident Assistants. Applications to become an RA for the 2024–25 school year are now open and will close on Dec. 15.

"We look to hire students with a variety of personalities, skill sets, strengths, ideas and pursuits. We serve 2,400 students in housing, which means having a diverse group of student staff is critical to ensuring we provide the supportive and educational environment students need," said Cassie Govert, assistant director for Residence Life, who coordinates student staff hiring.

Students selected to be an RA will receive one single room or apartment in the building they are assigned, a stipend and a meal plan on campus.

"Our live-in student positions are some of the most transformative roles students can hold. Beyond having the opportunity to mentor and support students, our student staff receives training that can be helpful in their own lives and as they look toward their future careers," said Govert.

Being a Resident Assistant brings closer connections throughout campus and allows students to explore their personal strengths and skills.

Question: What are the biggest benefits to becoming an RA?

Answer: The biggest benefit is free housing, which means I can afford to stay in school. I have also made some amazing friends as an RA and get to craft residents' experiences.

Q: How has being an RA given you further opportunities on campus?

A: You get to be more hands-on in events on campus. Being an RA also gave me the realization that I was not happy in my major, so I changed it.
