Hi, I'm Kavin. I just graduated from the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering with my bachelor's degree in Informatics, and I'm starting my accelerated master's program in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
Becoming a student leader on campus
Starting college during the COVID-19 pandemic wasn't easy, but I wanted to make the most of it and get as involved as I could. In high school, I was very active and passionate about Key Club, which is a service and volunteering club. The university has a student org focused on service, Circle K International (CKI), so that was an easy decision to join.
Wanting to maximize my service, I applied for a board position and was appointed as the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senator for CKI. Since then, I've held multiple offices in CKI and currently serve as President. Within just a few weeks of starting here, I was already well on my way to making an impact and growing as a student and leader. I was very active in USG as a Senator for two years, working on constitutional improvements, campus safety and food insecurity.
Last year, I joined the USG executive board as the Chief of Staff to help support our mission, events and initiatives. And I was Chief of Staff again this fall, and it's been amazing getting to work with really passionate people to make campus better. One particularly rewarding experience has been being part of the Food Services Advisory Committee.
After graduating, I pivoted to an advisory role, primarily to the USG election committee. In addition to my CKI and USG involvement, I also co-founded a podcast student organization with some other students at the Luddy School and was recently elected Secretary of the Luddy Student Council.
