Parent education and mental health resources

We cannot guarantee help or assistance on behalf of the off-campus organizations in these lists, and they are not endorsed options. This is simply a listing of resources.

  • Indiana Parenting Institute: Free and low-cost classes for parents of children ages birth to 18 covering modern parenting techniques, co-parenting, healthy family communication, and special issues like supervised visitation or DCS cases.
  • Triple P—Positive Parenting Program: Multi-tiered support from light-touch seminars to in-depth group or one-on-one coaching, including programs for infants, teens, developmental disabilities, divorce support, and Spanish-language options.
  • Indiana School Safety Hub—Parent Mental Health Resources: Connects families with local mental health centers, school-based services, and initiatives like Parent Cafés to build resilience and communication.
  • Maternal and Child Health Moms Helpline: Whether you’re looking for an OBGYN, diapers, or a place to ask parenting questions, they have Communication Specialists to assist. They connect women with resources within the community and from state agencies.

Pregnant student resources

IU Indy is committed to supporting students who are pregnant. Students seeking academic accommodations related to pregnancy or related medical conditions should connect with Accessible Educational Services.

Additional local resources include:

  • Pregnancy Choices Indy: Children’s clothing, diapers, breastfeeding supplies, formula, books, toys, baby furniture, maternity clothes every 3 months, pregnancy tests, and additional services and education.
  • Maternity Outreach Ministry: Children’s clothing, diapers, wipes, children’s furniture, cribs, highchairs, strollers, toys, baby food, formula, and more. All goods are donated and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
